The H-730 was the basis for Hondo's entry-level, Les Paul-style lineup. It was originally called the HLPJ from 1976-1979. The next step up would be the H-732.

HD-990
Unlike other models in this range, the HD-990's inlays extend past the 15th fret, and also include the first fret. This suggests it used the same neck as the H-732. This model was effectively replaced by the H-711 in 1982.
